Gmail Specific: How to set up automatic forwarding from one account to another account

Forward Emails from One Gmail Account to Another

Want to receive all your emails from one account (Account A) in another account (Account B)? Here’s how to set up email forwarding in Gmail:

1. Log in to Account A (the sender):

  • Open Gmail for Account A (the account you want to forward emails from).
  • Click on the gear icon (Settings) in the top right corner.
  • Select “See all settings” from the drop-down menu.

2. Find the Forwarding and POP/IMAP settings:

  • Click on the “Forwarding and POP/IMAP” tab.

3. Add the forwarding address:

  • In the “Forwarding” section, click “Add a forwarding address.”
  • Enter the email address of Account B (the receiver) where you want emails forwarded.
  • Click “Next.”

4. Verify the forwarding address:

  • A confirmation email will be sent to Account B.
  • Log in to Account B and open the confirmation email.
  • Click the verification link in the email.

5. Enable forwarding in Account A:

  • Go back to the “Forwarding and POP/IMAP” settings in Account A.
  • Select the radio button next to “Forward a copy of incoming mail to.”
  • Choose the email address you added in step 3 from the drop-down menu.
  • Decide what to do with the original emails in Account A:
    • Choose “Keep Gmail’s copy” to keep a backup in your inbox.
    • Choose “Delete Gmail’s copy” to automatically delete them.
  • Scroll down and click “Save Changes.”

6. Set the default “From” address in Account B (Optional):

  • Log in to Account B.
  • Click the gear icon (Settings) in the top right corner.
  • Select “See all settings” from the drop-down menu.
  • Click on the “Accounts and Import” tab.
  • In the “Send mail as” section, set your preferred default account.
  • Under “When replying to a message,” choose “Always reply from the default address” if you want replies to automatically use Account A’s email address.

Remember:

  • Always click “Save Changes” after making adjustments.
  • Setting the default “From” address in Account B is optional but lets you reply to emails as if they came from Account A.

Now all emails sent to Account A will be forwarded to Account B!
